How I lost 31 kg?

In the matter of weight loss, everyone is an expert, and it is common for you to hear people’s advice on it:

‘You have to fast for 12 hours.'

‘I lost 10 kg with Paleo diet.’

‘You should do the shake diet.’

‘Stop eating at night!’


These experts are usually trained by TV shows, woman’s magazine, and observing other people’s and sometimes their own experiences.


When I was 21 kg overweight and getting changed in a yoga room, a very chatty mature woman told me: ‘You have a bit of a belly. Do you know what you have to do? You should do the lettuce diet. It really works!’ I turned to her and said, ‘Thank you, but I have a disease that slows down my metabolism, and on top of it, I am on medication that also contributes to weight gain. Lettuce diet would be of no help for myself’.

In addition, the popular expertise on weight loss is even increased in the era of Professor Google and Alexa. When you google ‘how to lose weight, there is so much information that it becomes overwhelming. These professors also lead you to an astonishing number of weight loss apps.

Oh, and I almost forgot about it: You have to do it fast!

Then…

‘Lose 10 kg in 2 months.

And the new trend:

‘Everything is in your head.’

Then you can do it via meditation, or let’s do a gastric band via hypnosis.

I know it is frustrating, and trust me, you don’t want to know how many times I had to hear this advice!

As a Brazilian woman, I do value how my body looks and had a habit of taking care of what I eat and committing to an exercising routine. That came easily to me as I studied Nutrition, and I could easily engage in an exercise routine. I loved going to the gym first thing in the morning and loved taking dancing classes in the evening, so I exercised twice daily.


However, when I injured my back in 2017, having to take bed rest for over 8 weeks, my fibromyalgia was triggered. Physical movement, something that I really enjoyed, became a pain and a nightmare to me. As a result, I reached 99kg on the scales, and that was very frustrating. Still, I ended up losing 31 kg without surgery and without going on weight loss tablets.


Then what is the secret?

You are unique!

There is no weight loss secret formula that we can take on board and start advertising for its remarkable effects!

I drew several wellness plans for myself using a combination of treatments that suited my body and my circumstances.

Nobody is the same. We can have the same problem, but we are two different people with different backgrounds and different journeys. That is why it is essential to find a health professional that understands and can work with these differences to guide you through losing weight naturally.

It is also essential to understand that this process can take time for some people. It took me three years and a lot of patience to lose 31 kg, but it was worth the wait! I feel good and a lot healthier, still have my stomach and enjoy foods that I love and manage chronic pain a lot better.
