Wanessa Sarmento 

I am deeply passionate about health sciences and dedicated to supporting individuals navigating complex health challenges.

​

I hold a Bachelor of Nutrition and Dietetics from Brazil, where I developed a strong foundation in clinical nutrition. I also completed a Postgraduate Certificate in Health Sciences at the University of Auckland and a Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Research at Victoria University of Wellington. My studies in Naturopathy and Herbal Medicine, along with an Integrative Health and Medicine Specialization from the University of Minnesota, have further enriched my understanding of holistic, evidence-informed approaches to health.

Professionally, I have experience as a Medical Administrator at  Tauranga, Auckland and North Shore hospitals, and have worked in clinical research as well as the private health sector. Teaching is another passion of mine; I tutor undergraduate and postgraduate students and have collaborated with AUT and other educational institutions, supporting students with tutoring, mentoring, and assessments.

I am fluent in English, Portuguese, and Spanish, and in my spare time I enjoy reading, listening to podcasts, cooking, baking, practicing yoga, and training at the gym.

My personal health journey has deeply shaped my practice. After being diagnosed with fibromyalgia at a young age, I successfully rehabilitated myself, lost 35 kg naturally, and gradually eliminated all prescribed medications, including fortnightly pain injections. Today, I feel strong, balanced, and joyful—physically, mentally, and emotionally—and I bring this lived experience to my work with clients.

Having recently moved to the beautiful Tauranga, I am able to dedicate more time to supporting individuals in improving their health while also nurturing my spiritual practices. I pride myself on being empathetic, a good listener, and deeply committed to helping people find the light at the end of the tunnel.
